History


Before becoming an integrated and strategic area as it is today, the Grogol region was once a forest with quite thick trees. In the book "212 Origins of Djakarta Tempo Doloe" by Zaenuddin HM, at that time the Grogol area was a forest filled with wild and creepy animals. Many local residents then catch wild animals with the help of a tool called garogol. Garogol is taken from Sundanese, which means a trap made from a spear. The big river that crosses the area is also called the Garogol river. But over time the mention of Garogol was shortened to Grogol until finally the name Grogol was inaugurated as one of the kelurahan in West Jakarta.
