History

From its name, it can be guessed that this area was once a market place for buying and selling. More precisely in the Dutch population period, this market was only opened every Wednesday and closed on other days. In the book "The Origin of Djakarta Tempo Doeloe" written by Zaenuddin HM, it is stated that according to the pronunciation of the tongue of the Betawi people, Wednesday is referred to as Rebo so as to make this area called Pasar Rebo. The same thing is the origin of the names of other regions such as Pasar Senen and Pasar Minggu. For now, of course the markets in the area are open every day according to the times. One of the famous markets in Pasar Rebo is the Torch Market because it uses a torch as a source of lighting in the 1970s. After going down at the two stations, simply continue the journey with public transportation or motorcycle taxi to the destination.

For those who need to go to or will come from Soekarno-Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma airports, there is no need to worry. There is a DAMRI bus from both airports with a route to Terminal Kampung Rambutan, East Jakarta. From the terminal, the Pasar Rebo area can be easily reached using public transportation or motorcycle taxi.
