6 Tips to Rent Apartment with Low Income

To get an apartment with an affordable price may be a dream for some people because not everyone in this world gets a high income.

For comparison, the apartment occupied by a CEO and the apartment occupied by a college student is completely different. Starting from price, facilities, location, floor, environment, and many more.

A millionaire may not think about the price but for the college student or employees with low income, price is always the main factor to choose an apartment.

In Jakarta, a pricey apartment usually located in the center of the city, but you can find an affordable price apartment not far from the center of the city like Puri Park View, Bassura City, Pancoran Riverside, and many more.

Location is the main indicator for the apartment developer to determine the price. It is not everything, facilities, and even the environment are also the indicators.

You don’t always have to rent apartment in the center of the city like the business district, popular places, and etc. You’ll always find low-cost apartment all over Jakarta like Bassura City in East Jakarta, Puri Park View in West Jakarta, or Pancoran Riverside in South Jakarta.

Now, I’m going to tell you tips about rent apartment with low income? Are you interested? Some of you might say “Yes! Give me that, Please”, but some of you might say “Umm.. yeah maybe I would need to read this, but… maybe not, we’ll see about that”.

If you have high income let’s say 15 million Rupiah, probably you don’t need this article cause you may see the apartment based on how prestigious it is, not the price.

But what if your income under 5 million Rupiah? People might say “Come on guys, you don’t have to force it too hard. Just live in “Kos” (boarding house)”.

People who said it didn’t know about these tips. Now I’m going to tell you 6 tips to rent apartment with low income. Check it out.

Tips to Rent Apartment With Low Income Will No Longer Secrets Anymore

1. Get a Roommate

First tips to rent apartment with low income is to get a roommate. Expensive price is not always expensive anymore if you paid it just half of the price.

How? Go find a roommate!

But you have to be careful when choosing a roommate. Make sure your roommate is a good person, not a reckless person, and many positive behaviors.

How to find them? Post a roommate advertisement on the internet. Serumah.com or Roomster.com are websites that can help you to find a roommate.

The problem is, not everyone is a good person on those websites. The bad person also used it for a crime. So you have to be careful when choosing a roommate.

Ask their social media or maybe you can video call with him/her to check if they are a real person and arrange for meet up. Once again, your safety is everything.

2. Join Facebook Apartment Listing Groups

The second tips to rent apartment with low income are joining social media groups.

Why do I have to make this one of the tips? In my experience, you will not always find a cheap apartment on property agent websites.

Some apartment owner promotes their apartment to their friends, or family. They don’t want to give a few percents of the total rental costs to property agent because the apartment owner wants full payment.

For example, you can open your Facebook, type “apartment in South Jakarta” on the search bar, and then choose the group that you want to join.

What you have to do is to find a property listing groups on social media, and then broadcast your search on every group that you join. Wait for the response and try to contact them.

3. Visit Apartment Agent Websites for Comparison

The third tips to rent apartment with low income is to compare the apartment agent websites.

Nowadays, explore the property agent websites are the best way for you to compare every apartment based on their location, price, facilities, and etc. Even if it’s the same apartment, but each owner sells at a different price.

Some apartment websites provide different prices in the same apartment. Explore some apartment websites, search the apartment you want, filter based on your needs, take a look at the lowest price, compare with another website, take the average price, and now you have a benchmark price.

Set a budget both you and your roommate and start searching the apartment on the social media groups.

When you found the apartment that suits you, the next step is to visit the unit. Check every single furniture, wall, floor, bathroom, bedroom, etc.

If everything is fine, then negotiate it with the owner. Tell the owner your budget. Force them until you get the price you want. If they stick on their price, just find another one.

When you get the price that you want, make a contract with a stamp and sign both you and the owner. That will make both you and the owner/landlord can’t break the rules that are listed on the contract.

4. Look Into New Locations

Every article that write tips to rent apartment with low income always has this point, which is location.

Location is everything when you decide to live anywhere. Near your work, business place, school, or even university is why you choose to live in that place.

When you decide to rent an apartment in a big city especially Jakarta. Let say Hamptons Park Apartment, The Mansion Kemang, or Lexington Residences. Those apartments have expensive rental prices.

Just go a few kilometers and find an affordable price apartment. I’m pretty sure it’s not as high as in the center of the city.

In Jakarta, South Jakarta and Central Jakarta are business places. Many important buildings were built there like big company offices, government offices, and many more.

So look at the apartment in West, East, and North Jakarta because it may have a lower price than South and Central. Like Seasons City Apartment, Sentra Timur Residence, Metro Park Residence, Bassura City, and etc.

Don’t forget to consider this point guys!

5. Bring Your Own Stuff to Save Spending

The next tips to rent apartment with low income are bringing your own stuff.

I do not recommend you to rent an unfurnished type of apartment. Rent a semi-furnished studio type apartment and bring some stuff from your home. Decorate your apartment room as free as you are.

Ask your roommate also to bring their own stuff to fill the apartment room. Why you have to do that? Because the semi-furnished apartment type is not complete like Full-Furnished type of apartment, but way better than the unfurnished type.

And don’t forget to change the lightbulb with a low-watt lightbulb. As far as I know, the old type lightbulb would drain your electricity usage.

Here are some kinds of stuff that you can bring to your apartment:

– Low Watt Lightbulb
– Tableware
– Fan
– Canned Food
– Carpet
– Small Desk
– Shoe Rack
– Washing Machine
– MiFi
– And many more

Additionally, think about whether or not your apartment room will fit with all the stuff you bring.

6. Use Money Just for Important Things

The last tips to rent apartment with low income are using money just for important things.

Sometimes we spend our money to buy things that we already have like clothes, shoes, and etc, right?

If you have already decide to rent an apartment with your own money, don’t waste it for unimportant things. Just buy what you need.

Big city in this world especially Jakarta, life necessities are expensive. So don’t let yourself to make an unnecessary expense.

Tell your roommate also to save their money. That doesn’t mean you have to save forever, all of you also need to freshen up from your daily activities. Go to a massage spa, salon, or movie so you can enjoy and relax after long saving weeks.

So make yourself happy once a month, you deserve it guys.
