History

There are several different versions of the origin of the name Tanah Abang. The first version, the name Tanah Abang comes from the word "Nabang" which is the name of a tree that grows in the area. In the second version, the name Tanah Abang is taken from the soil condition in the area that is red so that the term "Tanah Abang" in Java means red soil.
